Surfware, Inc. is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2008, based on 58 years of machining experience and innovation. The following timeline highlights very important milestones achieved through the years.

2008 
 
 
Surfware’s patent application for Engagement Milling is allowed by the U.S. Patent Office. Machining tests on TrueMill® exceed all expectations. SURFCAM Velocity 4 is released. Surfware 20th Anniversary

A patent for “Engagement Milling” is filed. The mathematics and science behind engagement milling are incorporated into SURFCAM as TrueMill. TrueMIll wins Industry Week’s Technology Innovation Award. Industry Week's 2005 Technology of the Year Award

Alan and mathematician Pat Patterson begin research and development on a new toolpath approach. They create two prototypes and file a patent application.

SURFCAM Version 7 adds Z-level roughing and finishing, support for open-GL graphics cards.

Version 5 is the first PC CAM system with automatic rendering of blended surfaces.

SURFCAM Version 3 implements the first NURBS surface technology on a PC.

Surfware, Inc. formed. Surfware releases SURFCAM, the first PC based surface modeling and NC programming software.

Alan’s sons Larry and Bryan write a UNIX-based, general purpose solution for surface-modeling and machining.
