Surfware CAD/CAM To Show Metal Cutting at EMO Milan

Press Release

Ocotber 5-10, 2009

EMO Milan, Italy – October 5-10, 2009 - With the world economy in a slump, a trade show demonstration may be the quickest way to research cost-cutting technologies.

If NC machining time can be cut in half while producing superior results, a small investment in upgraded software can return its cost on the first job. Surfware Inc. of Camarillo California makes that promise, and invites attendance at EMO Hall 9 / Booth C23.

Just over the Alps from Milan is Empfingen, south of Stuttgart and home to Surfware’s Dealer of the Year for 2008, Erwin Eggert of 3D Concepts. Throughout the six-day Milan trade show, Mr. Eggert and Surfware’s Gordon Kushner will run live metal cutting demonstrations on a HAAS CNC VF-2SS Milling Machine.

To show Surfware’s 3-Axis High Speed Machining using patented TrueMill technology, Messrs. Eggert and Kushner will machine Titanium 6AL4V at a rate of 115 IPM with a 1/2” dia. end mill at 1” depth of cut to remove material at the rate of 4 cubic inches per minute with no tool wear or heat. They will also machine Aluminum 6061 and Prehardened Tool Steel, TOOLOX 44 (45HRC) at even greater speeds and depths.

TrueMill accomplishes this by managing the cutting tool's engagement with the material which also ends chatter and extends tool life. TrueMill turns even the oldest CNC equipment into a high speed machining center.

Known over 20 years for its reasonably-priced, high-end, 2-through-5-axis CNC programming systems, Surfware’s new version of SURFCAM Velocity® 4 SP1 gives even more control over 4 and 5 axis swarf cutting, axial cutting, retract motions and imported geometry.

Surfware Sales Manager Peter Marton, will be available at EMO for questions and will point interested businessmen to their local Surfware representatives for demonstrations in their own shops.

Surfware will also show SURFCAM Velocity 5 with the addition of a button and menu to define the machine tool’s basic kinematics such as spindle speed, number of tools, XYZ limits and so on. Among other new features is a transparent workplane representation of the active cview.

Velocity 5 offers Multiple Tool Rest Roughing which programs multiple tools to do a rest roughing operation to the same geometry set using the new functionality
