Golda and Aaron Noble are a husband and wife team (engineer and owner
respectively) of GT Virtual Concepts in Newman, Georgia.
Although Aaron has been using SURFCAM since 1998, he and his wife opened
their own company in July, 2002. They moved into a new building in May, 2008.
According to Aaron, "We bought SolidWorks and SURFCAM 2008 for our new
shop and have just been thrilled with it. People talk about other software, but it does not do
what SURFCAM does. With SURFCAM I can easily control the core; my program intent is completed
quickly with reliable, accurate results."
"The programming speed is great. I know how long it will take to
program a part and it helps us bid for jobs competitively. Complexity of the part is no longer
a worry; if the tool can physically fit, SURFCAM can drive it there. We can now do things non-traditionally,
which saves time and money. Also, whenever we have a question, SURFCAM has the most responsive tech
support. We love that."
Aaron states that one of his most dramatic successes has been in the medical
industry. “I used SURFCAM to automate a process for creating customized cranial implants,” he explains.
“Using SURFCAM we were able to automate the programming process to such an extent that, after receiving
the cranial scan, we were able to go to a CNC machine and complete the mold in 40 minutes. There are
probably five of these being done every day. This is saving lives every day.
"But SURFCAM is more than just CAM software. It is the only software I have
found that can handle tons of input data from third party software and input devices like FARO. If I have
problems importing data into another CAD system, I know I can pull it into SURFCAM and resave it back out
while correcting the issues.
"SURFCAM also drives tool paths, without flaws, over some of the worst data -- even
surfaces generated from STL files, sometimes numbering into the hundreds of thousands of small triangulated
surfaces. This allows us to machine crazy geometry typically found in files from 3D point or laser scanners.
Then there is Cloud of Points (COPious). If you are working with scanned data and must have a single surface
you cannot beat SURFCAM. All together, some of the most challenging projects can be easily completed with
SURFCAM in your software tool box." — Golda and Aaron Noble
